...how cold it is up here. Oh. My. Goodness.
This was the temperature this morning when I left for work: Yes, that's right - THREE BELOW.
I know, I keep talking about the weather. But even the Chicago Tribune has headlines about the bitter cold, so I feel safe mentioning it here :)
There is no escaping from this kind of cold. It hurts! And I was dumb enough to wear a skirt to work today! About 5 seconds after I got off the train I knew I'd never make the walk to work without my legs freezing solid, so I decided to take a cab...as did about half of the rest of the city of Chicago. The line to get a cab was half a block long! *shiver* Thankfully, it's supposed to snow tomorrow so we'll be up in the 20s again. This kind of cold is the winter equivalent of the grossest August day in Orlando you can imagine. My coat was plenty warm and my feet were nice and toasty in my new boots, but there comes a point where it just doesn't matter. You can't get away from it!
In other news, I've reconnected with some old friends recently which has been fantastic! Lisa and Josephine and I were best friends in high school but drifted apart over time. Jo is in from Los Angeles for Christmas and Lisa still lives in the area so we had lunch this Saturday and I'm so glad! A big thanks to Facebook for helping us find each other again after all these years :) Facebook also brought my friend Sheri from college and I back in touch; we had breakfast two weeks ago. Turns out she works about four blocks from me downtown, so hopefully we'll see more of each other.
In other news, I finally got a new computer; I chose a MacBook and couldn't be happier! By simply being functional it's way ahead of my old one, but it's also fast and efficient and user-friendly...and pretty :) I think I'm in love! Look for more photos - and more blog entries - to come now that I've got my own computer to hog again!

It sounds like you live in Sibera! People used to be sent places like this for punishment in the old soviet days... Hang in there! It's in the 50's here today-- a little too cold for me, but definitely a walk in the park compared to your frigid temps.
